Hotel Pennsylvania

New York, Hong Kong, 2022 - present

A practice-led Cinema 3.0 research project, specializes in integrating blockchain technology with deep learning models for creating a series of cinematic arts. The first round of archive and data collection has been completed.

Hotel Pennsylvania sits at the confluence of history, technology, and storytelling. In reality, this historical relic is located right next to the apartment where I live, and I watched it being demolished bit by bit. I draw from over 10,000 archival materials and oral histories to tell the story of a landmark hotel in Manhattan, tracing its (non)fiction story from grandeur to demolition.

By training multimodal deep-learning models to process this data and generate creative outputs, I challenge traditional notions of narrative temporality. I aim to synthesize artificial and authentic realities into a unified cinematic form, utilizing tools like blockchain to embed these narratives as digital artifacts in the virtual world.
